The Route 66 Raceway Corvette Show

The Route 66 Raceway Inaugural Corvette Show

Friday, June 12, 1998

Greetings from Joliet, IL! Even with a Thursday toad-chokin' rainstorm, the operators of this show struggled to get it together today. When my friend Pete (C5R# W1005) and I finally found where the C5 Registry group was gathered, the first thing we saw was this:

That's right! This is the 1999 Corvette hardtop. There was a tiny political dustup near the end of the day with two Cheverolet people arguing that this car doesn't exist and why was it just sitting there in the C5 Registry area?

This is the same picture but, this time, with Jake Drennon's(C5R# V0002) butt (so you'll know it's really us!)

This is VIN #45; the license plate is not a coincidence! The car did NOT have the Head Up Display.

Here's something supercool. This is Jim Minneker, father of the LS1 engine, signing my valve cover. Jim graciously signed every C5 in the C5Registry group that wanted it.

(Please pardon the size of these images; if you see one or more that you'd like to have, just email me with the image name beneath the image(s) and I'll email you a fullsize copy.
