Day 350 - Tuesday, April 11th: Today was to be a longer day, so we were up by 7:00am.  The rising sun made the morning sky very dramatic.

The next thing we noticed was the anchor trip line float was nowhere to be seen.  We were puzzled.  When we pulled anchor, we saw that something had bitten it off:

It could only have been an alligator.  The line was either bitten in two and the float drifted away, or the alligator ate the thing.  We figure that poor fellow, if he ate it, had a bad case of indigestion.  We have never heard of such an occurrence.

Since we could do nothing else, we got underway.

We cruised back up to that railroad bridge that was closed when we were headed south.  This morning we got a picture of the not-so-smart osprey that built their nest on a moving support:

In the strong winds, the "coal-fired" steam generating plant smoke was more dramatic:

We had wanted to spend tonight at Green Cove Springs Municipal Marina (cheap), but the winds were so strong and from the wrong direction.  We decided to duck into Sixmile Creek, where we stayed on the way down.  When we got in, a Great Harbor 37 named Berlie May was moored just ahead of us.  This is an unusual boat with a strange shape, loved by their owners for the impressive storage and interior volume:

Later in the afternoon Ruth got this picture of a turtle sunning himself on a log near the bank:

We had hoped to hook up with old Looper friends Ken and Joyce on Joken and Stan and Annie on Kokopelli when we got back in this area.  Fortunately, we were able to put together plans to have happy hour on Integrity and eat supper at the Outback Crab Shack, our host here at the free dock.

It all came together just fine.  Joken and Kokopelli crews were about six miles away in Green Cove Springs, and they had transportation.  Also, Stan and Annie's daughter, Jenny, and son Jake, were in the area and could join us.

We had a great time catching up on what we had all been doing since were together.  Supper was a fine cap on an already great evening.  We got these pictures of everyone.  First, from right to left: Stan, Annie, Jenny and Jake:

Then, Ruth, Bill, Joyce and Ken:

We said goodbye to everyone, sadly, and headed back to the boat.  We wanted to get going early, so turned in.

Position tonight: N29 57.679 W081 32.708
